A Standing Ovation with Izaya Orihara: Obscure Story

Obscure Story: Japanese Series The next day in a certain place in Hakata The day following the events of the electromagnetic hijack on Honshu, there were people playing grass-lot baseball peacefully on a sports ground somewhere in Hakata, not discussing of others’ affairs relating to that case. They appeared to have finished their game for the day and were managing the field. A man with long limbs and ruffled hair had a rake in hand and started conversing to the blond haired man wearing the same uniform as him.

A Standing Ovation with Izaya Orihara: Epilogue

Epilogue: Championship Sale The broadcast hijack incident that shook Japan was left unsolved in the end. However, everything within the Natsugawara Group had been settled, and a few weeks later the company underwent an overnight shakeout. And as all the board members were also let go, gossip magazines starting with a faction of dilettantes and Last Week Weekly speculated of a connection between the ‘extras’ and ‘lighting’ that was mentioned during the broadcast for a time, but the truth was never brought to light. Tamae Takioka went abroad and shortly thereafter went missing. There were rumors even within the Natsugawara Group that suggested she had been silenced. However, there were eye witness reports that came in from another country, leaving it unknown whether she was alive or dead. Fudou was currently hospitalized, supposedly from falling down the stairs during the blackout. In short, the two casualties that came out of this case had been completely covered up - not by the bas...

A Standing Ovation with Izaya Orihara: Chapter 5

Chapter 5: Game Abandonment The standing ovation given by the spectators was shaking the whole stadium. The reason for the acclamation was probably because Kanshirou Munakata had hit a third consecutive home run for the second time today. However the result itself meant nothing to Izaya Orihara. The target of his interests was the shift of the human heart derived from that result. In other words kandou, which controlled the body. Consequently, Izaya decided to reflect upon the happiness thoroughly, imagining the emotions of each person echoing in the stadium from the immense standing ovation. Just like the loneliness of smelling nothing but the splendorous meal placed in front of someone, presently just by thinking of the people’s joy or the lament of the pitcher Izaya could truly feel alive.

A Standing Ovation with Izaya Orihara: Interlude 4

What Type of Person Is Izaya Orihara? (Nec’s Case) Huh? What do I think of Izaya? He’s the president? An unsettling guy? What else could he be? Have I ever seen him as someone of the opposite sex? Hee hee. You sure ask ridiculous questions. If there was a woman who’d fall for him, she’d be quite the annilationsist. I hear the president confided in some pharmacist lady who worked as his secretary the most...But apparently she’s in America now. And above all, I hear she has a major brother complex, so she doesn’t even have a single millimeter of interest in him. Anyway, he and I are not like that. We have overlapping interests…or rather, I should say we are business partners. If we weren’t, who knows who many times I would’ve killed him. Hee hee.

A Standing Ovation with Izaya Orihara: Chapter 4

Chapter 4: Two Outs, Bases Loaded Ryuusei’s office “He did it, huh.” Ryuusei’s voice was rather calm when he heard the report. However, a flame of deep hatred was lit in his eyes. “But, how? Does this look like it was according to the report? It should state it happened in the hallway in front of the VIP room, not in the VIP room, correct?” “You did not trust the intention behind that warning in the first place, right?” Ryuusei covered his mouth with his right hand, and after thinking for a bit he let out a large sigh.

A Standing Ovation with Izaya Orihara: Interlude 3

What Type of Person Is Izaya Orihara? (Densuke Sozoro’s Case) What type of person is Izaya Orihara? That is a troublesome question. Well now, he was a detective. There is someone who wants to know about Izaya-dono, you say? Well, I am not forbidden to speak. Is it suitable if I give my opinion? Or do you need the objective view of how he carries out his role in society? Hmm, my opinion. Then this is easy: he is nothing more than an uncooperative, superficially dignified five-year-old.

A Standing Ovation with Izaya Orihara: Chapter 3

Chapter 3: Game Suspension In the a udience “You are Izaya Orihara-san, correct?” The bespectacled woman who was the real embodiment of the secretary image called out to Izaya, who had been talking with Haruto in the wheelchair space. Izaya Orihara had come to this baseball stadium by complete coincidence. Although he received the tickets, they were complimentary tickets for the unreserved seats regardless for the date, so he actually was unsure whether to go to the day game or night game until just previously. Yet the fact that they knew his name meant they knew that information since the beginning of the game by unknown means. If there was any factor Izaya could consider, the natural assumption would be due to Nec hacking into the wireless hidden camera network.

A Standing Ovation with Izaya Orihara: Chapter 2

Chapter 2: Double Play Fudou was impatient. Currently the Natsugawara Serpent’s game occurring at the stadium was being closely watched by the world. But even if the game did not have many paying close attention to it, if something were to happen in this day and age the news would spread throughout the entire world in short time with the internet. And if that happened and ‘ that’ was discovered, everything would come to an end.

A Standing Ovation with Izaya Orihara: Chapter 1

Chapter 1: Home Run “Nec-chan, you don’t use a tablet?” The man in black situated in a wheelchair – Izaya Orihara – addressed the woman a little ways from him. Sitting in the pipe chair resigned for family of the wheelchair user while skillfully typing away on the laptop positioned on her knees, the girl – Nec – did not move to face Izaya and answered with just barely enough volume to speak over the cheers that were going on around them. “I don't really like touching the screen directly since it’ll leave fingerprints. If it's a smart phone, then that's fine.”

A Standing Ovation with Izaya Orihara: Prologue

– A certain selected passage of a log from a smart phone. ‘Izaya Orihara? You say you want to meet him? Don’t get me wrong; I do know him pretty well, but I don’t know where he is. I didn’t even know if he was alive or not until just recently. Sounds like he’s still kicking though. A wheelchair? I guess that makes sense. He was severely injured when I last saw him. Why do you want to see him?’ (Omitted) ‘Izaya solved a case? Several cases all over Japan? I don’t know what you’re talking about, but are you sure the mastermind behind those cases wasn’t Izaya himself? The man Izaya Orihara is not a detective. In fact, he’s the exact opposite.

A Sunset with Izaya Orihara: Interlude 5

Interlude: The Man Called Izaya Orihara ⑤ ‘the hell, you came back again? I said I don’t have anything to say about that flea! ...I have no choice, huh. It’d be unreasonable to refuse after going so far to ask me. However, I don’t have much to say about him.

A Sunset with Izaya Orihara: Chapter 4

Chapter 4: Eliminate Izaya Orihara A few days later in the entertainment district of Bunokura City. I feel like the city is quite restless somehow. Koshino of the Futsuku Group was walking around town by himself when he felt something was off. Somehow, he felt an usual, harsh air drifting through the city. However, Koshino had an idea of which individuals caused it; Kazuhisa Adamura and Nana Kiyojima had disappeared. That impactful truth was being spread around. Yet it was difficult to say if they had left the city.

A Sunset with Izaya Orihara: Chapter 3 Side B & Interlude 4

Chapter 3: Use Izaya Orihara – Side B (Adamura Side) “Izaya Orihara again, huh.” Ryuuji gulped down his sake in a seat at one of his favorite high quality clubs while surrounded by the club’s girls. The person in front of him was a young, hoodlum-like man. Ryuuji, having heard the man’s old friends belonged to the Oukarengou, had him habitually provide him information on the group, but what the man brought him today caused a multitude of waves in Ryuuji’s emotions: a nightclub that was one of the Oukarengou’s meeting spots was attacked. At first, Ryuuji thought it was one of the common disputes, but after listening in full what he got was an old man appeared at their hideout and had beaten the group. He initially questioned the story, believing it was some sort of joke, but then the name ‘Izaya Orihara’ came up in the midst of the information, and squinting he ordered, “tell me from the beginning again.”

A Sunset with Izaya Orihara: Interlude 1

Interlude: The Man Called Izaya Orihara ① Izaya Orihara? This is quite a nostalgic name to ask about. Well, I guess it’s not that nostalgic. His name is sometimes brought up in conversations with my friends and family. Each time a dangerous or odd event occurs it’s, ‘what did Orihara-kun do?’ Or, ‘was Orihara-kun behind it?’ You know, those sort of discussions. You see, just from that you can tell he is a good-for-nothing, right? Who exactly is Izaya Orihara? I can't quite say. If you're asking about his occupation, he is an informant. Outwardly, he calls himself a financial planner though.

A Sunset with Izaya Orihara: Interlude 2

Interlude: The Man Izaya Orihara ② Izaya Orihara you say? That is quite the nostalgic name. An informant...huh. Well, you’re not wrong. Indeed, he was famous in Tokyo as an informant. To the end, he partially was anyway. I also came to not be able to face the world, but he was quite an interesting existence for a human being. At the same time, he was also unpleasant.
